Rethinking Your Un-employment

High Unemployment Rate

According to the data published by Nigeria's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) pegs the unemployment rate at 14.2% in the last quarter of 2016, up from 13.9% in the preceding quarter.
The meaning of this statistics is that for every 100 employable Nigerians, there are 14 persons unemployed.
This figure seems to be conservative as in actual sense, for every 100 employable Nigerians, there are more than 14 persons unemployed! So, I beg to contest such a figure.

Re-Thinking Your Unemployed Status

Having said that, my objective today is not to discuss unemployment in Nigeria and its attendant effects, but I am here to discuss on how you can find yourself un-employed and then turn that state from that of helplessness to that of opportunity. After all, even those that work still live in the fear of losing their jobs and means of sustenance or some worry that their income is not enough to 'take them home'.
If you find yourself unemployed at this time, what should you do?
There are a number of options:
  • Prospect for a New Job
  • Start up a Business
These two are those that come to mind at this moment, but there are many other options that are available for you. You might learn to INVEST wisely, that is of course if you have the capital to invest with. For example, someone that previously held a job could be laid off with some benefits. He can decide to put some of those lay off benefits into a good investment that would yield him steady income.

Start Up A Business

As much as I would love to talk about the first option which is to prospect for a new job through career opportunities that might be open in one's field, I think that the subject has been dealt with in many of my blogs. You can redesign your Resume in such a way that employers can come seeking for your expertise instead of you searching.
I like to discuss about setting up a business because that is one of those things that I am always excited about. It is usually a test of my mental capacity and intelligence. For some, this is very difficult, but for others, it is as simple as A-B-C....Simply identify a human need and the opportunity to fill that gap provides you with exchange of value or cash.
Most people will argue that you must have a heavy CAPITAL in order to begin a business, but those who understand their game know that you do not need so much of capital than your thinking hat on. Your idea is the capital you require. But come to think of it, let's be practical. Can a business idea be your capital?
You can share your business idea with a potential investor and get money to fund its delivery. You can form partnerships to help relieve you of the financial burden of managing your business alone. But you can also let someone take off the entire financial burden off your shoulders if you learn to be a Multi-Level Marketer.

Be a Network Marketer

For the uninitiated, MLM is like a Ponzi scheme but for the well educated mind, the two are not the same. In a Ponzi scheme, the network is built around ZERO products; people are simply served on a first-come-first-serve basis and this scheme collapses when the demand for money is more than the supply, since there is really no business or product or service that is yielding anything to share.
However, in a MLM, the network is built around real products and services. That is why the like of FLP, GNLD etc have been on and are still getting stronger and stronger as the days go by. These businesses are built upon human networks that are formed around real product sale that generate the revenue that are shared and bonus/rewards paid out from.

Ask Me About TRIBUTE

Tribute.ng

Almost every week on Linkedin I receive messages from Job Seekers sending me their resume or CV as though in my job title they saw "Emeka Onuzuruike, Headhunter". I am often bordered by the amount and style of these messages asking me all sorts of questions. But if you read my Linkedin profile carefully, you will not see anything in my title description that makes me or suggest that I am a headhunter or recruitment agency. Though I love helping people secure jobs through my personal network, but for how many?
For someone out there who wants real FREEDOM & SUCCESS, simply ask me about Tribute. All it requires from you is that you use your personal networking skills to get products consumed. The other value-chain areas of business such as supply chain management, products production has already been done for you.

Shuttleworth Fellowship Program for International Fellows, 2016

Applications are invited for one year Shuttleworth fellowship program available for international fellows. The co-investment project funding is the most unique part of the Fellowship Program, as Fellows are rewarded for investing in their own ideas. An amount of $245,000 is set aside per Fellow per year as potential project funding. This funding is unlocked through a light weight project pitch process and the Foundation tops up the Fellow’s own investment by adding at least 10 times as much funding from their project funding pool. Imagine the cost of a Fellow’s time for the year is agreed at $1000. As the fellowship year progresses, the Fellow realises that it would be beneficial to spend $100 in order to advance their idea. The Fellow then takes $900 home for the cost of her time and reinvests $100 back into the implementation of her idea, while the Foundation contributes at least another $1000, giving her a project budget of $1100.
